HOW WE MET

We met in the fall of 2018 the old fashioned way - a dating app! Leading up to our first date a few texts were exchanged, primarily about fast food preferences and a mutual love of Big Macs and In-N-Out. The first of many good signs.

JP (with the help of a few trusted friends) planned a lovely date at a restaurant in Lauren's neighborhood in San Francisco. When the waiter asked if we wanted dessert, without hesitation JP ordered something chocolate and Lauren ordered a second bottle of wine. Very little has changed since then.

After only a month of dating, JP headed back to Ireland for work and wasn't sure when he'd return to San Francisco. They spent the next few weeks FaceTiming and texting, until one night JP asked Lauren if she would meet him in Ireland for New Years Eve. The very next day flights were booked, and after only 4 dates Lauren had committed to traveling around the world to spend 10 days in the back-arse of nowhere Ireland with a random guy with a big eyebrow (Lauren has since made it her personal goal to make sure JP's eyebrows are no longer connected).

Despite a few hiccups on the trip, including a malfunctioning hair-straightener, transporting local farmers and overconsuming hot whiskeys, we found our way.

THE PROPOSAL

On a beautiful Sunday in April, we headed to Pier 39 in San Francisco for a day of sailing on the bay with a couple good friends (shout out Mark Leonard). We'd had this on the books for weeks and were thrilled to finally spend time with friends after a long year of Covid. As we waited on the pier for the boat to arrive, our friends texted to let us know they were dealing with a pet emergency and wouldn't be able to join. Lauren was particularly bummed and took it upon herself to let the captain know they wouldn't be joining.

We boarded the boat and much to Lauren's surprise, there was only one other couple aboard. She quickly texted her mom "Can you believe it? We have the whole boat to ourselves! No one else showed up!" Once we were out to sea, despite very choppy water, JP dropped to a knee and proposed against a backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge. The "other couple" aboard morphed into photographers and the boat's captain began popping champagne. We spent the rest of the afternoon sailing around the Bay and finished with dinner on the water...and a few gins in a dive bar.

Hungover river rafting? Have you two lost your minds?

We call the river the Truckee Trickle, and for good reason. This is a VERY leisurely float (no rapids involved). Plan to bring plenty of drinks, snacks, and sunscreen. The float should take ~3 hrs. Everyone is invited, but there's absolutely no pressure to join. If this doesn't sound like your thing, you can meet us for a casual bite at River Ranch post float.

- Details on how to purchase tickets will be provided in a few months -
- Kids are more than welcome -

What time should I arrive to the ceremony? - asked absolutely no one

Friends and family,

We are so touched by all of those traveling near and far to celebrate with us. Your presence at our wedding is gift enough, but if you do wish to make a gesture, contributions toward our first home together are incredibly appreciated.

For those looking for other ideas, here are a few things we've had our eyes on.

Love always,
